Share Your World – 2014 Week 15

For your blog do you basically use Windows or Mac, laptop, desktop, pad, or phone?

Windows Desktop.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A flight attendant. I thought it was the best  job in the world – travel and work all in one.

Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?

A 200 year old large touristic city, a port, too. I loved it! Still do, actually 🙂 I grew up in the downtown, which was built by Italians and French, so architecturally Odessa city center is quite a European city.  It’s difficult, but I’ll try to describe the “apartment complex” I grew up at for an American. Imagine a couple private old one-story village-type houses with tiny front yards, all stuck together, side-by-back. Now add 3 2-story houses of colonial type around. These are 200 years old, each used to belong to rich middle-class families. After the Revolution of 1917 these larger houses were “nationalized” and turned into multi-family apartment houses. The next stage of new construction came after WWII, when a mighty impressive grey 5-story multi-apartment house was built around the previously existing older houses, thus creating a whole world, enclosed and cut from the eyes of passer-by’s.   Thant’s the place I grew up in.

How old would you be if you didn’t know old you are?
